opposing the Civil Rights Act of 1964;
supporting a regressive flat income tax of 10%, which would disproportionally hurt poor and working families;
being one of only three members of Congress that voted against the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to improve standards for all U.S. public company boards, management and public accounting firms;
favoring the opening of the United States Post Office first class mail delivery to private competition, thus raising prices and restricting or eliminating some mail services;
supporting state-level capital punishment;
opposing federal environmental legislation, leaving it up to the states (such as high-polluting Texas and Louisiana);
believing climate change is not a “major problem threatening civilization.”
rejecting universal health care, and proposing the closing of VA hospitals.
